Join us for a ‘spooky’ and fun MINI drive as both a way to enjoy the waning fall colors and as a Halloween treat!
The Run to Raven’s Grin will take place on Saturday, October 23rd. We will meet at the ‘creepy’ Maquoketa Caves at 9:30 am and from there will head east, traverse across the ‘eerie’ Sebula Bridge, and navigate some ‘chilling’ country roads on our way to Mt. Carroll, IL. We will go via Savanna and Stockton with our lunch stop at the Kountry Kettle Restaurant in Savanna.
The Raven’s Grin Inn is more of a museum/tour than a haunted house and no one will chase you with a chainsaw. There are some scary images and ‘jump out and scare you’ moments so kids under 10 yrs old might not like it. The tour takes about 2 hrs and the cost is $12 per person (cash only if paid at the Inn).

Our gracious organizer David V. has reserved a tour for our group at the Inn in advance and has already made an estimated payment for us to cover the group cost, so he would greatly appreciate sign-ups in the NAM Discussion Thread and/or the Event Calendar Entry (<—links) not later than the day prior so he can call in the exact number.

10:45 am — Arrive in Savanna

12:55 pm — Arrive in Stockton (stop for break as necessary)
1:00 pm — Depart Stockton enroute to Mt. Carroll, IL (29 miles)
1:40 pm — Arrive at the Raven’s Grin Inn (Check in; photo ops; get tickets)

Just curious as to why you are going from Savanna to Stockton? You are heading away from Mt Carroll doing that. Mt Carroll is a straight shot from Savanna on rt 64 and is about 9 miles away.
Then again disregard that if you are just wanting a nice drive to check out the changing scenery =)
Yeah Jessica, you nailed it with your second comment. The Scenic Ridge Route north of Savanna is one of the best motoring roads around. We couldn’t bear to miss it!
