Keeping it “Between the Cones” at the Iowa Challenge 1 SCCA Autocross

——————

Eastern Iowa MINIs “dipped its big toe” into the local autocross scene this past Sunday, June 24th at the Hawkeye Tech Transportation Center in Waterloo for the Iowa Challenge 1 SCCA Autocross, organized by the Iowa Region SCCA. This was a combined event with both the Iowa Region SCCA and the Great River Region SCCA. The weather was spectacular, and it was immense fun watching all of the various makes and models of cars, from the daily driver sedans to the open wheeled racers — and of course, the MINIs! — compete against the clock. Many of us learned for the first time what autocross is all about, and decided that it sure looked like fun out there on the course!

Three cheers for our folks who did themselves proud out on the course in their MINIs — Phil N., Bill S., and David D. It was also great fun to watch EIMer Jeff C. in his custom E-Mod set some of the fastest lap times of the day. Congratulations to the drivers and thanks to the enthusiastic MINI spectators for supporting our team!

It was also a real pleasure meeting new EIMers Phil N. and Jarred D. Welcome guys!
