Our first driving event of 2011 — the EIM Barn Quilt Drive — starts, ends, and passes through Washington, IA and includes various roads in and around Washington (and a bit of Henry and Keokuk) County. Washington County claims itself as the “Barn Quilt Capital of Iowa” with over 100 registered barn quilt displays. Our route stays on paved roads and allows us to motor past nearly 50 of the registered barn quilts, plus a few extras that haven’t made the list yet. The route is an easy drive on scenic country roads with some good twists and turns at various places along the way.

Rendezvous is at the Washington County Fairgrounds at the west end of the city of Washington at 9:00 am. Lunch will be at the very popular Tuscan Moon Restaurant in Kalona at 11:30 am. Our final stopping point is back in Washington at ~2:45 pm for parting dessert/refreshments and group MINI photos.
